Police Screening - Durham
The following instructions are for those who have a home address in Durham Region.

Apply for Police Vulnerable Sector Check Online
- Please click here to complete your online application for the Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Please download this volunteer letter, as you will need to upload this during the application process.
- In the online application you’ll be asked for the name of organization (JA Central Ontario), and the description of the position (Volunteer Program Facilitator).
- You will be asked to prove your identity with government-issued photo id. It is recommended that you use your Ontario Drivers License or Ontario Photo Identification Card.
- Application costs $31 – you can submit your receipt to JA Central Ontario to be reimbursed using this form.
- Due to COVID-19, results will be mailed to you (it is not possible to arrange an in person pick up).
Return the Original Police Vulnerable Sector Check to JA Central Ontario
- Your Police Vulnerable Sector Check results will be sent to you directly from the Durham Regional Police via mail.
- JA Central Ontario will not be notified of the results of your Police Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Please contact your JA contact about making arrangements to have your police check submitted to our office. Police checks can be sent to us via email at info@jacentralontario.org.

Pick Up your Original Police Vulnerable Sector Check & Submit to JA Central Ontario
- You must pick up your Police Vulnerable Sector Check results in person at the location you indicated on the application (the location cannot be changed after you complete the application).
- Some locations may require you to make an appointment for pick up.
- Download this volunteer letter and bring it with you. Please fill in the date and your name ahead of time.
- Bring two pieces of valid government issued ID with you – the identification must confirm your name, date of birth and address, and one piece of government identification must include a photo.
- JA Central Ontario will submit the original Police Vulnerable Sector Check to the Toronto District School Board on your behalf. You will not be eligible to enter the classroom if we do not have the original document before your scheduled day in the classroom.
