Reflecting on Canada's inaugural National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
September 30th marks the inaugural National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Today, we are pausing and reflecting on the history of residential schools in Canada – as well as celebrating the impact of inspirational Indigenous communities in our region.
We honour the children that did not return home to their families, the Survivors, their families, and communities. JA Central Ontario is proud to be working with First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples in our region, including youth, educators, businesses, and volunteers who participate in JA programs.
We acknowledge the truth of our history and believe reconciliation is a shared responsibility for all Canadians that requires action not just on this day, but every day.
