Meet the winner of the Winter 2021 JA Titan Challenge

JA Student Mathew

Congratulations to Mathew, a grade 10 student from Markville Secondary School, for winning this exciting competition.

We're pleased to announce that Mathew, a grade 10 student from Markville Secondary School has won JA Central Ontario's latest Titan Challenge, sponsored by SAP. In this unique competition, high school students compete to set up and run a successful business in this virtual simulation. Through this online, interactive experience, students in grades 9-12 learn all about the fundamentals of creating a real business, becoming CEO of their own company and must create a business strategy and strive to succeed in a highly competitive industry.

"Thank you JA for the opportunity to win a scholarship and allow me to participate in the JA Titan Challenge," says Mathew. "This challenge was fun because I got the freedom to design my own product and make changes however and whenever I felt I needed to, as the CEO. This challenge was very educational because it taught me that if you overprice items no one will buy them and reinforced my understanding of supply and demand."

Titan is a unique learning experience and online competition that helps students explore the world of business. Through this business simulator, students make key business choices such as critical production, staffing and capital investment decisions. Students learn how to solve marketing and pricing challenges, understand how to lead a successful business and create and achieve business goals.

Students received support from our generous sponsor SAP, with volunteers hosting an informative online event that helped students explore key business concepts and get ready for the competition. The winning student will also receive a $500 post-secondary scholarship to support their future goals.
