This hands-on event for high school students of all genders explores career opportunities that champion women and allyship in the workplace.

Empowering Young Women is a one-of-a-kind event open to all high school students. The event inspires young women to consider rewarding careers in a range of industries. Young men and non-binary allies are also invited to join in conversations about allyship and the importance of creating a gender-inclusive working environment.

What to expect:
  • 250 high school students from Central Ontario will come together at this unique event.
  • Inspirational industry expert speakers will share real-world stories and inspire students to consider future careers.
  • Experts from a wide range of sectors – from skilled trades to finance and everywhere in between – will share their experiences and the importance of allyship in the workplace.
  • Mentor sessions led by 70 women volunteers will allow students to explore career paths and opportunities.
  • Students will visit a career marketplace, where they’ll hear from our partner organizations about all the exciting early career opportunities available.

Volunteer at Empowering Young Women

There are two volunteering opportunities at this event:

  • Career Mentor: Share your story with students to help them not only find their dream career, but also understand the importance of a gender-diverse, equitable workplace.
  • Marketplace Representative: Share information about your industry and organizations, inspiring youth as they learn about a variety of career opportunities. Note: this role is only available to our Marketplace Sponsor organizations - to check if your organization is part of this group, click here.
