Student Management Training empowered this year’s Company Program students with the skills and know-how to become successful entrepreneurs and empowered leaders of the future.

On December 3rd, we welcomed over 180 JA Company Program students to the BMO Institute for Learning for Student Management Training – a unique event for youth entrepreneurs!

During this event, young people who hold executive positions in student-run JA companies learned all about the skillset and mindset to build a successful business. They will put everything they learned to work over the next few months, as they grow and develop these businesses as part of JA’s Company Program.

Student Management Training focused on all areas of leadership development, including problem-solving, conflict management and work-readiness skills. As students face an uncertain future and a changing world of work, we know these skills will be vital for creating the workforce of the future.

Students were joined by JA alumni and industry expert mentors, and were inspired by first-hand insights from JA Alumni Giancarlo Sessa - entrepreneur and co-founder of Blade Air. Giancarlo shared personal tips and mindset skills that helped him become a successful entrepreneur and instilled the importance of adaptability, resiliency, and consistent learning.

What is JA Central Ontario’s Company Program?

Company Program is an after-school entrepreneurial experience that empowers high school students to start and run their very own business. With the help of a student group and volunteer mentors, students create, manage, and liquidate a business in 18 weeks. Through Company Program, students not only learn how to run a business - they also meet new friends, connect with mentors, network with professionals, and gain the skills and experience to shape their futures.
