Company Program Registration

What program name do I select?

If you are volunteering with your organization, you will have already been assigned a Company Program team number. Please email our Company Program team if you are unsure about your team number.

Are you interested in supporting the JA Company Program but are not affiliated with one of our Company Program sponsors?

JA Central Ontario welcomes the opportunity to engage volunteers who are not employees of our Company Program sponsors as Community (Independent) Volunteers. Applications are reviewed and placement decisions are made by JA subject to availability and suitability. If you are interested in volunteering as a Company Program advisor, please select “Community (Independent) Volunteer” during registration and a member of the JA team will connect to confirm participation and program placement.

Are you a recent Company Program graduate (within the last 6 years)?

If you are a recent Company Program graduate (within the last 6 years), please select the 'Recent Alumni' option from the drop-down menu. Recent alumni applications are reviewed, and placement decisions are made by JA subject to availability and suitability. JA will connect with you to confirm your participation and placement.

Reference checks for new advisors:

You will be asked to submit the names and emails of two references. Please ensure that you enter accurate information and that you notify your references in advance as they will be sent a questionnaire automatically.

Who needs to register?

All volunteers (Lead Advisor and Advisor) must be registered to participate in Company Program.

Step two - sign up for advisor training

Once you have completed volunteer registration, you will be sent a confirmation email with details and links to register for mandatory virtual advisor training sessions.

If you are a NEW ADVISOR: You are required to complete TWO (2) virtual training sessions including First Year Advisor Training and the Full Advisor Training.
If you are a RETURNING ADVISOR: You are required to attend ONE (1) Full Advisor Training.

First Year Advisor Training – Thursday, October 19th from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. (Mandatory for new advisors)

Full Advisor Training – Tuesday, October 24th from 5:30 to 7 p.m. (Mandatory for new and returning advisors)

All training webinars will be recorded but we encourage you to attend live. Attendance will be taken and confirmation that you have completed training will be required to participate in the program.

Step three - vulnerable sector check

Company Program in-person format

For the 2023-2024 year, we are pleased to return to an in-person model for Company Program with a limited number of fully virtual offerings.

All students and volunteers registered for in-person Company Program teams are expected to participate in-person for the full program year.

Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns as we want to ensure this is a safe and fun Company Program year ahead!

Company Program overview and time commitment

Volunteers are expected to dedicate 3 to 4 hours each week from November to April.

Minimum commitment:

3 hours weekly for program meetings (set date/time each week)
Additional 30 min to 1 hour for prep time and/or to answer student and JA inquiries (will vary by week)

Attendance:

Volunteers must commit to attending a minimum of 75% of the 18 weekly meetings.

Training:

Volunteers must also attend a mandatory evening virtual training session in October and other training calls throughout the year as required.
