CREATING NEW LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES FOR BRAMPTON STUDENTS THANKS TO THE ONTARIO TRILLIUM FOUNDATION.

We are pleased to announce that JA Central Ontario has received a Seed grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation, funded by the Government of Ontario. JA Central Ontario will use this grant over 12 months to build resilience and capacity to deliver programs and services within Halton Peel. 

Increasing equitable access to JA learning experiences

Supporting our goal of increasing equitable access to JA’s life-changing learning experiences across Central Ontario, this funding will enable us to deepen our connections in the Brampton community, build organizational capacity and grow our impact over time. 

We’re excited to strengthen our existing network in the area as well as create new relationships to reach even more students in the coming years. 

Breaking down barriers by reaching underserved youth and communities 

As a result of this funding support, we will be able to reach more students in grade 3-12 in Brampton, many of whom are BIPOC, newcomer and refugee youth.  

We know that JA’s informative, experiential learning experiences develop young people’s sense of self-efficacy and help them develop critical financial literacy and life skills that are key contributing factors to future success. 

Through JA learning experiences, young people focus on skills acquisition in an environment that supports positive mentorship and an optimistic outlook.  

Connecting students to each other and their community 

JA learning opportunities include community members sharing their perspectives and lived experiences, with many programs taking place during school hours. All volunteers receive training to facilitate and foster an environment in which everyone feels respected, welcome, and that they belong.
