Students study real-life economics

Apr 30, 2010 -
Grade 8 students at St. Barbara Elementary School got a lesson on Wednesday in real-life economics.
As part of Junior Achievement's (JA) Economics For Success program, 56 students at the Hwy. 407/Mississauga Rd. area school participated in interactive lessons on how to build a solid educational foundation while recognizing the financial costs of living on their own.
Volunteers from Mississauga-based Staples Advantage Canada, including company president Michael Zahra, visited the school to deliver the lessons, which engaged students in financial literacy discussions about economics, budgeting, employability skills, labour markets and credit cards.
