Diversity in Action, is an interactive program developed by Junior Achievement in partnership with RBC Financial Group and Heritage Canada that illustrates and teaches students in grade 7the value of diversity and how it contributes to improving morale, creativity, teamwork and productivity, today in school and tomorrow in their futue workplaces.
With the help of a specially trained business volunteer(s), students participate in experiential learning exercises that will help to develop positive attitudes to assist them in their eventual entry into the working world. The following activity modules are explored:
Age: Understand the distinct advantages that people of different ages bring to the workplace.
Gender: Identify perceived gender advantages in the workplace and learn to value gender differences.
Ethnicity: Develop awareness of different patterns of cultural behaviour while reinforcing the importance of diversity in everyday life.
Persons with Different Abilities: Value how people of different abilities contribute to our community and workplace.
Sexual Orientation (Optional): Explore views on sexual orientation and how negative attitudes can affect the community and workplace.
